Planning your first visit?
A short welcome from our church family

Welcome

We at Bible Baptist Church would like to give you a warm hearted invitation to join us in worshiping our Savior, Jesus Christ. You will be greeted with a bright smile and a firm handshake, and will leave knowing that you have been in the presence of the Lord and His people! We are conservative in our beliefs, and our services and music are traditional. We use only the King James Version of the Bible in our preaching and teaching ministries. We are committed to sharing the Gospel message both in our community and around the world.

Please take a few minutes to browse our web site and get better acquainted with who we are, and what the Lord is using us to accomplish in the community of Ashtabula, Ohio. You will discover that the sun never sets on the ministry of the Bible Baptist Church. Please plan to attend the next scheduled church service, and be our honored guest. You will undoubtedly find that Bible Baptist Church is the place "Where Friends Become Family!"

What we believe

Do you know where you are going when you die?

The most important question for you to answer is, where will I spend eternity? Life is very short. The Scripture reveals that man's life is "even as a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away" (James 4:14). Your life is passing by very quickly; where you go when you die depends on the decision that you will make in this life about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Consider the following truths from the Word of God:

God sees you and all men as being sinners. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Sin is the breaking of God's holy law (I John 3:4). Have you broken God's law? God says that you have.

God's justice requires Him to punish sin. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death." Because of your sin, you deserve to be separated from God for eternity and to suffer everlasting torment in the "lake of fire" (Revelation 20:15).

There is nothing that you can do yourself to change your standing before God. Romans 3:20 says, "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin." This includes moral living, baptism, church membership, and so on.

But! Not only is God just and holy, He is loving and merciful too! Romans 5:8 says, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sin, so that you can be forgiven.

You must now personally accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. Romans 10:9-10 say, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

You need to, in your heart, believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, and trust Him and Him alone to save you from your sin. If you do, pray and let the Lord know that you are now trusting Him as your Personal Savior. Pray something like this right now:

Lord, I know that I am a sinner: If I died today I would not go to heaven. I now turn to you, asking you to forgive my sin, come into my life, and be my Savior. Help me live for you from this day forward. In Jesus' name, Amen.

If you have prayed that prayer and trusted Christ as your Savior, we would love to hear from you. Let us know, and we will be glad to help you take the next step.

What should I expect?

Whether you grew up in church or are visiting one for the very first time, you can expect a personal encounter with Jesus Christ at Bible Baptist Church, through the compassionate preaching of God's Word and through music sung to the glory of God.

Our friendly greeters will welcome you when you arrive and gladly answer any questions you have about where to go. Our members want to share Christ's love with you and help you feel welcome and cared for.

We are confident that when you leave, you will know that God has spoken to your heart and that you have spent time among the Lord's people.

What are services like?

While everything done in the worship services of Bible Baptist Church is Bible based, Christ centered, and done for the glory of God, each service is distinct and different from the others.

Our School of the Bible begins every Sunday morning at 10:00. Boys and girls up through sixth grade meet together, and adults choose from several Bible studies, each taught by a caring teacher. On your first visit, our friendly greeters will be glad to show you where to go. All of our teachers appreciate questions and value dialogue with their students.

When the School of the Bible ends at 10:50 AM, everyone has a few minutes to refresh themselves before the morning service begins. The Sunday Morning worship service begins at 11:00, and the Sunday Evening worship begins at 6:00. At the beginning of each service, our song leader leads in several classic hymns of the faith from the church hymnbooks, copies of which are located near each seat. Then Pastor Cole preaches a challenging sermon from the King James Bible, bringing the Word of God to bear on everyday life.

Where do my children go?

Our friendly greeters will be glad to show you where to take your children. Nursery care with experienced staff is available for children two and under during every Sunday and Wednesday service, and there is a place prepared for boys and girls at each hour:

10:00 AM, School of the Bible. Boys and girls up through sixth grade meet together for a helpful and instructive hour, while the adults attend Bible studies of their choice.

11:00 AM, Sunday Worship. Children from age three through sixth grade learn about the Lord in an age-appropriate way in Children's Church.

6:00 PM, Sunday Gospel Hour. Boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade take part in King’s Kids Club.

Our ministries

Where friends become family

We are always striving to do the best we can for the Master! We understand that our mission as a church is to glorify God by reaching the lost, strengthening the saved, and preparing others to serve the Lord.

As a church, we are committed to ministering to the whole family. We have ministries for children, adults, and seniors. We have some ministries that are local, and some that reach around the globe. All are done with dependence upon God, a desire to evangelize the lost and to strengthen the Lord's people.

Dr. Greg A. Cole, Pastor

Dr. Greg A. Cole

Pastor

Pastor Greg Cole trusted Christ as his Savior as a young boy and first came to Bible Baptist Church as a teenager in 1995. God used this church to deepen his walk with Christ, and it was here, at sixteen, that he publicly surrendered to the call to preach.

He earned degrees in Divinity and Religious Education from Massillon Baptist College, graduating as valedictorian of both classes. He later earned a Master of Religious Education and a Doctor of Pastoral Counseling from Andersonville Theological Seminary, both Summa Cum Laude.

In 2003, he and his wife, Kelly-Jo, moved to Upper Chichester, Pennsylvania. For ten years he served as Assistant Pastor of Chichester Baptist Church, where they built a thriving bus ministry and an active children's ministry and saw many people come to Christ. In 2013 the Lord brought them home to Bible Baptist as Associate Pastor, and in 2016 the church called him to be its pastor. Today Pastor Cole and his family are devoted to faithfully preaching God's Word and reaching Ashtabula County with the Gospel.

Mrs. Kelly-Jo Cole

Church Secretary

Kelly-Jo Cole trusted Christ as her Savior at a young age and later surrendered her life to do the will of God. She graduated with honors from Massillon Baptist College in Massillon, Ohio, with a degree in Religious Education.

Since their marriage in 2003, Kelly-Jo has served the Lord alongside her husband. They spent ten years at Chichester Baptist Church in Pennsylvania, where they built its bus and children's ministries together. At Bible Baptist Church she serves as church secretary, keeping the day-to-day work of the church office running smoothly, and she is actively involved in our children's ministry.

Kelly-Jo is warm and friendly, and many in our church family know her as a faithful friend who is always ready with a listening ear and godly counsel. A gifted musician, she sings and plays the piano, organ, and flute.
