Do You Know Where You Are Going When You Die?

The most important question for you to answer is, where will I spend eternity?  Life is very short.  The Scripture reveals that man's life is "even as a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away" (James 4:14).  Your life is passing by very quickly; where you go when you die depends on the decision that you will make in this life about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Consider the following truths from the Word of God:

God sees you and all men as being sinners. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Sin is the breaking of God's holy law (I John 3:4); Have you broken God's law? God says that you have.

God's justice requires Him to punish sin. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death." Because of your sin, you deserve to be separated from God for eternity and to suffer everlasting torment in the "lake of fire." (Revelation 20:15)

There is nothing that you can do yourself to change your standing before God.  Romans 3:20 says, "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin." This includes moral living, baptism, church membership, and etc.

But! Not only is God just and holy, he is loving and merciful too! Romans 5:8 says, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sin, so that you can be forgiven.

You must now personally accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. Romans 10:9-10 say, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." You need to, in your heart, believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, and trust Him and Him alone to save you from your sin. If you do, pray and let the Lord know that you are now trusting Him as your Personal Savior. Pray something like this right now:

Lord, I know that I am a sinner: If I died today I would not go to heaven. I now turn to you, asking you to forgive my sin, come into my life, and be my Savior. Help me live for you from this day forward. In Jesus' name, Amen.
